I-66 Eastbound Widening Project Construction Update Meeting - July 10, 2019

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) hosted an open house to update on ongoing and upcoming construction on the I-66 Eastbound Widening Project. Work is underway to add a third travel lane to eastbound I-66 between the Dulles Connector Road and Fairfax Drive (Exit 71) and to build a bridge for the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail over Route 29 (Lee Highway). Work will begin in the coming months to add and replace noise walls in many locations along the project corridor as well as build a new ramp connection between two existing ramps at Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) to allow direct access from eastbound I-66 to the West Falls Church Metrorail Station. The open house included a presentation and opportunity for attendees to view plans and talk with project team staff.

W&OD Trail Bridge Community Meeting - October 11, 2018

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) hosted a community meeting to present the final design and aesthetic details for the W&OD Trail Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge to be built over Route 29 (Lee Highway). The design reflects input received during workshops held on April 5, May 2, and June 13, 2017.

I-66 Eastbound Widening Project “Pardon Our Dust” Meeting - June 5, 2018

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) hosted an open house where it presented updates on upcoming construction work to add a third travel lane to eastbound I-66 between the Dulles Connector Road and Fairfax Drive (Exit 71). The project also includes building a new ramp connection between two existing ramps at Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) to allow direct access from eastbound I-66 to the West Falls Church Metrorail Station, as well as building a bridge for the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail over Route 29 (Lee Highway). Attendees viewed project plans and talked with project team staff.
